The monthly meet of poets dubbed Kwivuga Poetry Night, that’s is usually composed of Ugandan young poets showcasing their art, that closed down the month yesterday, Thursday night was one to remember.
With Heinken as the main sponsor, the night was graced with marvelous performances from many groups of entertainers ranging from poets to comedians as they waved a farewell to the month of February. The event took place at Gato Matto hangout in Kampala. It definitely was a great month closer as the night dimmed away in Heineken’s green light.
Considering that drinks in the house were plenty, it was a night of merry making as comedians and hip hop artistes took on the stage. The top stand-up comedians thrilled fans with hilarious jokes and these were King of comedy Salvado Patrick, Queen of comedy Anne Kansiime and Alex Muhangi of the ambassador of “Give us a name” campaign. It was an evening of fun and entertainment as guests were treated to music performances from the Mith, JB of Klear Kut and Ruyonga.
There was giving away of gifts to the poets of the night and the best poet of the night was one teenage girl only identified as Tasha. Though there wasn’t much appreciation of the poetry exercise, revelers at the venue were discernably awestruck by the comedians’ jokes.
