Farouk Miga’s second half goal on Tuesday was enough to take SC Vipers back to the summit of the FUFA Super League when they defeated army side Simba FC.

Vipers, who dropped points last week and dropped on the log, also benefitted from URA’s 2-1 loss to SC Victoria University at the Lugazi Stadium. The win took SC Vipers to 35 points, two more than second-placed Kiira Young FC.

“We are happy to get back on top of the league table and will continue to work hard by winning our games,” said coach Edward Golola.

SC Victoria University, who were playing their second game since exiting the CAF Confederation Cup, had Noah Ssemakula and Matthew Odong to thank for the goals, while Frank Kalanda netted for URA FC. The win pushed Morley Byekwaso’s side to fourth place.

In the other matches played, Bright Stars beat Soana FC 2-1, while Bidco and bottom-placed CRO settled for a 1-1 draw. Entebbe held Uganda’s most decorated team SC Villa to a goalless draw.

The game between Masaka LC and Police was not completed after crowd violence erupted after 65 minutes. The League Committee will meet soon to decide on the match.
