Popular Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Guild President aspirant Juma Wasswa Balunywa’s campaigning manager, Enricho Kawooya, known as MC Enrico, has opened up about his unexpected rise to fame.
He expressed astonishment at the viral spread of the video he posted while campaigning for Juma.
Enrico disclosed that he never anticipated the video’s viral success, especially considering his financial constraints at the time.
He revealed during an interview on Urban TV that he could barely afford data, borrowing a bundle to make the post. “I never expected this to go viral. To be honest, I even had just Sh2k on me the day the video was posted. Even the data I used in posting the video was borrowed from Airtel,” MC Enrico said.
The meteoric rise to fame stemmed from his innovative campaigning style for his friend Juma Wasswa Balunywa.
Leveraging his freestyling and singing talents, along with a small team, the “Juma Wasswa Balunywa” campaign gained widespread attention, becoming a symbol of anticipated success for the upcoming MUBS Guild Election.
MC Enrico’s journey at Makerere University Business School began in 2021, where he reunited with his former schoolmate, Kato Fredrick.
Upon Fredrick’s request, Enrico joined his campaign team, contributing significantly to his victory as Guild President.
Subsequently, he lent his support to another candidate, Kamoga Bruno, who also emerged victorious in the guild elections.
Eventually, MC Enrico decided to run for office himself, and with his characteristic flair and dedication, he secured the position.
His story serves as a testament to the power of creativity, determination, and grassroots campaigning in student politics at MUBS.
