Government clears Nyege Nyege, morality encouraged

Unlike last year where there was aome resistance from some government officials, this years the event has already been cleared and with all measures in place the event has been cleared to take place in 2 weeks time.

Government officials, Busoga Kingdom officials, Talent Africa and police and discussed and resolved to work together to have a successful Nyege Nyege festival as have been in the previous editions.

The meeting that was chaired by ethics and integrity state minister Rose Lilly Akello has streamlined and synched on the Dos and Don’ts of Nyege Nyege that will be made public soon.

Nyege Nyege attracts thousands of Ugandans and foreigners to the shores of the River Nile every in what is now viewed as a marketing tool and travel destination.

According to the organisers, the festival attracted approximately 13,000 attendees in 2019 with 4,000 coming from outside Uganda while last year, approximately 15,000 people partied at the event with 10,000 Ugandans, 3,000 Kenyans and 2,000 international guests.
