Ugandan TikToker Angella Summer Namubiru seeks to bring People’s choice Award home

With over 47 years of existence, the people’s choice awards, which intend to recognize different people in entertainment return this year with close to 40 prizes up for grabs.

The awards are an initiative by American based media company NBC Universal under its subsidiary, E! Entertainment Television.

Angella Summer Namubiru,one of Uganda’s biggest tiktok entertainers with a following of over 5million followers and close to 150 million likes attached to her account, was nominated in the awards.

The tiktok sensation was nominated under the ‘AFRICAN SOCIAL STAR 2022 AWARD’ category. This recognizes the most influential and iconic people in Africa.

She seeks for glory together with seven other public figures across the continent who include South Africans, Ama Qamata, Shauwn Mkhize, Sphokuhle and Khanyi Mbau, Liqourose and Swanky Jerry from Nigeria and Angolan actress, Juddy da Conceição.

“Being recognised by The 2022 People’s Choice Awards is unbelievably real, wow! I am speechless! Such real recognition makes you believe that dreams do come true and is an inspiration to all young girls from all kinds of backgrounds! I am humbled,” she said.

Chikocho Tyra from Zimbabwe won the award in 2021.

Voting ends on 9th November and the award ceremonies will take place on December 6th in California.

Angella is a former member of Ugandan girl band group, City Rock Entertainment who made a choice to leave it after the imposition of a lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She then ventured into entertaining and educating people all over the world especially through african culture via tiktok, a fast growing social media avenue where she has since become one of the favorites across the continent.
