After close to three months since the UMA elections were halted at the national theatre due to speculation of malpractice by Cindy’s camp, the former Vice President announced an interim committee while speaking to journalists this Week.
Cindy, who wasn’t elected but rather took over power from Ykee Benda after the latter resigned from office due to unclear reasons said while she availed names of the appointed, “I am Cindy and I’m the current president of UMA, we are here to unveil the interim committee that is going to lead UMA till the next elections.”
In the committee, Cindy retains her presidential position, Hanson Baliruno as Vice President, surprisingly, former presidential contestant, Lord Bitem Lubega was also awarded with the position of Chief Whip and advisor.
Much as he was regarded a weak force, Bitem shut his ears and together with his team went all in for the much anticipated presidential elections which unfortunately fell through.
“This is a great opportunity for me having been elected the chief whip of musicians in this country, and the first thing i am going to do is try and reconcile my nemesis,King Saha with Bebe cool,” Lubega said, he also added that he thinks the role that he was appointed to is similar to the presidential role, one that he eyed earlier.
Several ugandan entertainment pundits like Edward Sendi, think that the association doesn’t have any vision or mission but rather a money eating scheme led by the association president and that all those that were appointed in the interim are just being appreciated.
The appointments also come at a time when there is a huge division of musicians that don’t disagree with Sanyu’s leadership together with all her people, Phiina Mugerwa inclusive.
These who include Feffe Bussi,Kabako among others feel that Saha has better leadership skills and should be the one in the top most position of the association at this time.
Peace Mutuuzo, the minister of gender, sent a directive to halt all plans of re-organizing elections in the association until when the ministry is able to aid this but up to today, all this is still in vain.
