Songstress, Azawi is in the African music spotlight. This after she was featured on AudioMack’s list of African artistes you need to know.
The “My Year” hitmaker appears on “AfroBoss Spotlight”, a limited-run editorial series for Audiomack World by DJ Edu, an “African Music Ambassador,” who has been pushing young African artists to the fore since 2005 on National UK radio.
She is listed alongside four others including Bruce Melodie from Rwanda, South Africa’s Ngobile, Moelogo, and Eugy, both from Nigeria.
Dj Edu had to this say about Azawi, “Azawi has a great ear for percussion, likely because she fell in love with music after frequenting dance festivals as a child, joining a dance troupe back in 2005. Initially starting her foray into the music industry proper as a songwriter for other artists, she’s recently stepped into her own, making music deeply inspired by her Ugandan background.”
This comes after Azawi recently released her debut album, “African Music” which streamed number one album in Africa on Apple Music for over a week. Her album has been praised as one of the best in Africa for 2021.
