KCCA’s Nsimbe warns El Merreikh

George Nsimbe, KCCA FC’s head coach, has warned Sudan’s giant side El Merreikh ahead of their first leg encounter this weekend in Khartoum in the CAF Champions League.

“They should not be very confident because they are playing at home. We know what to do against them. We have prepared well and know their style of play,” the former Cranes midfielder told MTNFootball.com.

The two teams clash in the El Merreikh Stadium on Saturday night as the two sides try to launch their return to the lucrative competition.

“We know our opponents played European champions Bayern Munich last month, but we have also prepared well and had a series of matches when we won the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar,” said Nsimbe.

Although the team will miss experienced midfielder Hassan Mawanda Wasswa, who featured for the Cranes at the just concluded African Nations Championship in South Africa, they will rely on Brian Majwega, Tony Odur and Herman Wasswa, who was the top scorer last season.

KCCA FC will go all out to try and avenge the 2009 defeat to the Sudan giants that eliminated them 2-1 on aggregate following a 0-1 defeat in Kampala in the first leg before a 1-1 draw in Khartoum.

Nsimbe, who guided KCCA FC to the Mapinduzi Cup victory in Zanzibar last month, said his players are very determined to get a positive result in Sudan.

“We need to play well in the first leg and score some goals which will help us in the return leg as well,” added the coach.
