MultiChoice Uganda has announced an increase in the prices of their packages in a bid to continue providing quality TV experience to its customers.

According to Joan Semanda Kizza, the PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, the price change follows a rigorous process of balancing between technology, content value, and cost of delivery on MultiChoice’s platforms with a commitment to ensuring Ugandans continue to enjoy unrivalled access to entertainment, anywhere, anytime, and at the most affordable price.

“In consideration of the current tough times, MultiChoice Uganda has sought to endeavor that these prices are as low as possible, as well as accessible for Ugandans,” said Joan Semanda Kizza.

Kizza further explained that, “MultiChoice Uganda through it’s platforms DStv and GOtv has over the past year absorbed increased content costs and foreign exchange impacts, due to high inflation and operation costs while working tirelessly to ensure we provide an unrivalled bouquet of channels to watch and platforms to view them on.”

On the matter of price increase for the various packages, Colin Asiimwe the Head of Marketing, MultiChoice Uganda remarked that, “When we decide on pricing, we consider our costs like our satellites and distribution equipment; buying shows, movies, and channels; decoders; our infrastructure like play out facilities, monitoring services and customer touch points.”

“We have structured our packages for affordability so that one package does not subsidize another. The same applies to all our other content. We charge customers on each package with a fair value for the channels they’re getting.” He added.

“Some channels are superior and carry exclusive, first-run content which is very expensive, which is why specific shows are only included on our slightly higher priced packages.” Asiimwe concluded.

The price increase will take effect on 1st September 2021.
