As Serena based NTV News anchor Gabriel Epenu recuperates, the heavy medical bills accumulated at International Hospital Kampala IHK are being taken care of by his family. However much Epenu has been able to get back on his feet, following specialists prognosis, doctors are skeptical about his speech abilities.
It is said that after his family realized that the bill for the treatment estimated at 500K each single day was mounting day by day and taking a toll on his family, after thorough consultation, it was agreed that the family moves him back to his home in Namanve where he will continue to receive the necessary treatment.
In all this Gabby’s estranged fiancée Safya Kodet remains at his side as the main caretaker since singer and current girlfriend Iryn Namubiru remains scarce. This was after Iryn, who by the time of the accident was Epenu’s official girlfriend, had offered to foot the bill and have him moved to a hospital in Nairobi for more specialized treatment , was turned down by his immediate family and ordered to vacate his hospital bedside.
The good news is that Gabriel can now recognize and at times manages a smile when he sees a familiar faces.
