The Ministry of Health – Uganda has denied lifting ban on concerts as earlier reported.

Through its official twitter account on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health has made it clear that entertainment centers or concerts have NOT BEEN OPENED and all bars, night clubs and discotheques remain closed.
“The Ministry of Health would like to state that entertainment centers or concerts have NOT BEEN OPENED as is being portrayed in sections of the media. All bars, night clubs and discotheques remain closed,” Ministry of Health tweeted.
The same tweet threads that only cinemas were officially allowed to reopen on 14th November 2020 under condition that they would observe the Ministry of Health’s precautioned social distancing to combat COVID-19 Pandemic
“As indicated by the Ministry of Health in a statement read on 9 November 2020, under entertainment, ONLY cinemas were permitted to open on 14 November 2020 provided persons maintain a 2-meter distance in all directions and adhere to all COVID-19 preventive measures.”
This brings to rest all information making rounds on social media that the government has eased restrictions on the arts and culture sector which were imposed in march 2020 and that with strict Standard Operating Procedures, concerts, theatres and other events in the arts can now happen between 7AM and 7PM.
However, a clash between entertainment stakeholders and the government has erupted after a letter signed by the chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Sam Okello Kelo indicating that concerts have been granted permission to operate effective this Saturday 19th December 2020 making rounds on social media.
