A Mexico City man’s pet parrot turned out to be more of a stool pigeon after it ratted out his allegedly drunk owner to the cops.

According to the Huffington Post, Guillermo Reyes was pulled over at a checkpoint when police heard someone saying, “He’s drunk, he’s drunk.”

After looking around the vehicle, authorities soon realized it wasn’t a person at all, but a parrot. Unfortunately for the owner, the parrot had a lot to get off it’s chest.

Police administered a sobriety test and Reyes was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The field tests were probably just a formality. Some parrots have the ability to learn how to mimic hundreds of words. If the only thing this pet parrot can say is “he’s drunk” over and over again, chances are the owner might have a bit of a problem.

Officers allowed Reyes to take the parrot to jail with him, but the bird should watch it’s back. He’s probably in danger of getting shanked sinces prisoners tend to frown on tattletales.

Too bad the parrot didn’t learn how to say something useful like “Get me in witness protection.”
