Onyiaka is an upcoming female Nigerian artiste based in Los Angeles. She made her debut in the afrobeat scene choreographing and appearing in music videos with major artist like Young Paris, Wale, Davido, and Tiwa Savage. However, she wasn’t satisfied with being behind the scenes and started recording her own sound. As a multitalented creative, she had been writing songs from a young age and had no difficulty creating hits.
However, the start of Onyiaka’s pursuit of music wasn’t easy. Out of fear of disappointing her family she had difficulty sharing her music and was often sneaking off to the studio just to record, many times only having as little as 30 minutes before having to rush back home. But she knew that if she wanted to become a serious artiste she would have to let go of this fear. To her surprise, her parents were supportive. Her next challenge was finding people to work with. The friends she had grown accustomed to working with had moved in a different direction than her which almost made her give up, but she was determined to keep working. By the grace of God, she was aligned with new collaboraters that supported her as an artist and helped her grow. She is now recording a new style of Afrofusiom music like no other artist the industry has seen.
As a proud Nigerian raised in California, she incorporates all her musical influences into her sound, seamlessly flowing between English, pidgin and Igbo. Her unique rasp and vocal tone make her stand out as both a singer and rapper. Stay tuned for her new releases. This one will put the industry for trouble!
