The BigEyeUg team caught up with Vocal Police boss, Ronald Maro of the Genda Ewamwe fame and below is how it went down.
Is Maro your real name?
My real names are Magada Ronald.
Genda Ewamwe was a masterpiece song that propagated the talent in you. What inspired you?
I just see what happens around me and I put myself into shoes of a person watching so I am a neighbour in this song (story)
Last year you happened to perform in Kigali during the third annual Ugandan Night. How was that experience like performing for a totally different crowd?
It was a good experience because I saw how music speaks to every human no matter the color, language, age, distance and all that, I broke boarders and in Rwanda I did it twice! I love Rwanda.
You are among the top vocalists in Uganda, what new good plans do you have this year to back this up?
I am the best vocalist, I will prove it in a live concert come September! Just been compiling my Genda Ewamwe album need to release more songs, I believe you and all my fans will love them, because it’s my work and I trust my work.
I have seen you perform on different platforms and you’re really good. Do you use some rituals or juju?
I am a believer; believe in God and in me because I was made in his image!
Last year, your music transpired a lot. Do you think it’s your time to be on the international music scene?
I need Uganda for two more years then I will be ready for the international scene!
I heard that besides singing you also do Kickboxing and Karate, is it true?
Nooo! I did something in 2001 but not any more!
Any concluding remarks for your fans and supporters out there?
Trust in Maro because I trust and believe in my fanz because everything I write I do because they inspire me! Support Maro. Mwebale inho!
