In Washington, a woman whose boyfriend gave her a fillet knife for Christmas used it to stab him the next day. But hey, at least now the boyfriend can’t complain that she never used the gift he got her.
As HeraldNet reports, “Detectives with the Everett Police Department’s Major Crimes unit believe the woman, 18, stabbed her boyfriend and slit his throat with the knife Thursday evening.” That’s one way to tell someone you’d have preferred a new pair of earrings instead.
Apparently, the boyfriend had splurged on a high-quality knife because it did some pretty serious damage. The man was treated for an 11-inch cut across the neck, but is currently in stable condition. He also had a cut in the chest and cuts across both hands. Clearly, someone needs to explain to this woman that the knife is for filleting fish, not people.
The woman allegedly claimed she stabbed the man after he threatened to hurt her, though the boyfriend said otherwise. She was booked into jail as police investigate what really went on during their lovers’ spat.
In any case, we hope that next time one of these two will give the other a gift that they can both use: a breakup. At least the kind of pain inflicted by one of those doesn’t require stitches.
