EMDI, The Institute of Media and Communications opened their doors and held their first Open Day in December at their main campus in Nsambya to give prospective students a feel for the industry, the Institute, and the exciting path their career could take following a programme of study with the new hands on media school.

Potential students streamed in on the day, to take advantage of interactive workshops held with industry professionals including PR gurus Tshiela Kangwagye and Daniel Nsibambi and one of the masters of advertising Joseph Walusimbi. Students were given the chance to try their hand at a variety of activities that form the basis of the Media and Communications industry.

Whether interested in PR & Journalism, Events management, Advertising, Radio Broadcasting or Wedding Planning, the workshops gave students a real taste for the work they could be doing. Students had the chance to ask questions and network with household names such as Peace Menya and DJ Beekay. With live graffiti from Papa, the hottest dancers from Kings Uganda, exclusive giveaways and a great atmosphere, it was a day not to be missed.

Students were given tours of the state of the art facilities, showcasing the latest up-to-the-minute equipment and could take advantage of on-the-spot admissions. The industry professionals were tasked with evaluating the students to pick out some who showed enough promise to be awarded scholarships.
