As technology continues to advance, so do the ways individuals communicate. Preference for every day communication for many has shifted to social media apps as smartphones become more prevalent. However, the old-fashioned call refuses to go out of style.
Every so often you will need to pick up the phone and make a call. Ugandan telecoms know this, and have several voice bundle options for their customers, giving them more minutes affordably should they need to make a lengthy call.
That said, have you ever wondered how your service provider is charging you for voice bundles relative to the competition?
We have managed to come up with a comparative analysis of the current voice bundles on the market from the key players that is Africell, Airtel and MTN.
In this article, we will be looking at both normal voice and combo bundles.
NORMAL VOICE BUNDLES (ON-NET)
Africell and Airtel have daily, weekly and monthly packages whereas MTN has daily and monthly packages only. While all 3 mostly charge the same for the packages they have in common, the key difference is in how many minutes they offer. Generally, Africell tends to offer the most value for customers, giving the best customer rate over the other players.
For instance where Africell charges Ugx 1000/- daily for 75 minutes of On-Net calls, Airtel offers 30 minutes and MTN offers 20 minutes for the same price. For the monthly bundles which cost Ugx 10, 000/- across the 3 networks, Africell gives 850 minutes whereas both Airtel and MTN give 300 minutes which translates into 55 percent more value for Africell customers.
COMBOS
Africell reigns supreme here. It offers its customers a range of options for an all-in-one package for individuals who want to make calls, text and also surf the internet concurrently. Africell has daily, weekly and monthly options while Airtel and MTN have just a monthly option for the all-in-one package.
For Ugx 20, 000 monthly, Africell will give you 800 minutes, 800 SMSes & 1,000mbs while Airtel will give you 500 minutes, 500 SMSes & 500mbs and MTN gives you 200 minutes, 250 SMSes & 250mbs (plus 500mbs WTF bundle). For the same price, Africell will also give you 80 minutes to call other networks and MTN will give you 50 minutes while this option is not available with the Airtel bundle.
In conclusion, Africell offers the best deal on voice bundles based on pricing, however, choosing one’s ideal network provider maybe influenced by other factors such as coverage among others.
