dfcu Bank has made a contribution of UGX 15 million to Gulu Archdiocese ahead of the Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations slated to take place on 3rd June. The cheque was handed to His Grace Archbishop Dr. John Baptist Odama by dfcu Bank’s Regional Manager – Northern Uganda, Mr. Christopher Kinyera.

Commenting while handing over the cheque, Christopher said; “dfcu Bank is proud to support Gulu Archdiocese in organizing this year’s Martyrs Day celebrations. Our decision to support the diocese is in line with our brand promise of making more possible in the communities we operate. We know how important organizing this year’s Marty’s Day celebration is for the people of Gulu and we wanted to extend a hand in making it possible. We wish everybody a happy celebration while we continue to renew our faith.”

This year’s theme for celebration will be ‘Obey God Always and Everywhere’.

Uganda Martyrs Day is celebrated annually to commemorate and celebrate those who were persecuted for their religious beliefs on orders of Kabaka Danieri Basammula – Ekkere Mwanga Mukasa ll between November 1185 and January 1887.

Gulu Diocese needs approximately 900m shillings to facilitate the planned activities.

“dfcu Bank has been a friend indeed for a long time and we have enjoyed a good relationship. We are thankful for this generous contribution towards our activities and we will continue to pray for the management and all the staff for their continuous generosity,” remarked Archbishop Christopher while receiving the Banks contribution.
