All roads led to the lush green of the Entebbe Club as 128 golfers competed on the grueling course to secure their place in Round Two of the Singleton Match Play Challenge, and only 64 managed to swing their way through it.
The golfers took to the course by 8am in anticipation of an action-packed day on the greens and the Challenge played on a four ball better format did not disappoint, with players like Wendy Angudeyo facing a mammoth struggle to maintain a place in the punishing tournament.
After an exhausting day on the course, the golfers retreated to yet another rousing 19th hole experience as has become the Challenge’s tradition, and this time it was an experience which featured a performance by Janzi Band and hosted by Salvado Idringi.
Riding on the day’s retro theme, the band sent guests back to the good old days of the nineties, doing covers of various songs and also providing the backup as those bold enough to give karaoke a shot took to the microphone.
“The Singleton believes in crafting first impressions to make lasting ones and like I said this season we are doubling up on everything. That is double the fun, double the hard work and surely double the prizes,” said Annette Nakiyaga UBL Head of Luxury Portfolio.
The grand prize for the winning pair this year is a fully paid golfing trip to watch the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic, a series which has featured some of golf’s best players, including Tiger Woods and Henrik Stenson. There will also be business class return air tickets for the first and second runner-up
pairs, as well as winners of the subsidiary events in the men’s and ladies’ categories.
Other prizes include monthly subscription packages on DStv, treats at Serena Hotel, golf accessories and HTC goodies.
