Defending champions Uganda Cranes were forced to spend long hours at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) before flying out to Mombasa on Friday.
Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was furious with the plan for their trip to the Coastal city for the quarterfinals of this year’s GOtv Cecafa Cup.
“I have witnessed Cecafa grow over the years and its success but what is happening to my team is a shame.”
“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”
“We spent hours before being cleared at the hotel and have now been forced to be stranded at the airport after issuance of lesser tickets to the team. This is unacceptable and the treatment is poor and gives us a huge disadvantage,” he told supersport.com.
“I don’t know what more to say. I have been to competitions in the continent and the tournament’s magnitude warrants teams to atleast get chartered flights for equal time, for preparation and as a coach and human being I can’t comprehend this treatment.”
Uganda will face Tanzania who are currently in Mombasa in the quarterfinal as the tournament enters the last eight.
