3. How did you end up in the Music?
I didn’t go in music accidently but it was planned that it will happen. I started writing my lyrics and then after in my vacation is when SK SIMEON came to Uganda and so the power of music in me. I recall in my high schooli used to sing along with my friends behind the class room and I realised that I can make it. I used to see how he does his music and practices so also inspired me to join music.
4. Tell us about your educational background?
Yami J finished school and also studied from two schools that included Mt St Henry’s High school Mukono and St Mathius Kalemba Nazingo in Kayunga. After my high school I didn’t stop there so I had to do what I love most and that was tour and travel and I’m currently studying from YMCA Wandegeya.
5. Tell me something no one knows about you?
Hehehe Yes Yami J is a free happy and wants to do his things in his own way. I don’t do like others they do but I’m fine with those who do the same thing.
6. How did you get into the industry?
I started slowly by slowly after making my first duo called fighter that song opened me to people’s ears to know that there is also Yami J. people started loving what I do and meet good people who started helping my music and they are Hype Dreams Records, Australia. So we made with them great reggae song called Monica which assured me that I can make it in music
7. What inspired you to get into the Industry?
Hmmm I looked on what tool I should use to promote where I come from and practices what I’m studying so when I looked that music has power. It reaches where you have never reached and all these people watch your video so which means it’s the best way to promote what you think that will work for your people.
8. What have been some of your best moments in the industry?
I won’t say that I found the worst thing in the industry but I got challenges of working with untrustworthy people who are always thirsty of money which pushes us back. Another thing is promotion it’s not easy to do if you don’t have anyone you know.

When I see people believe and support my music all over the area
10. What kind of music do you do?
11. Im a versatile artiste but I mainly do reggae, dancehall and Afro beat. Even my latest release called African life in Afro Beat.
12. Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
Hhhmmm I would love to say that Yami J will be one of the most Africa’s inspirational icon and the world at large.
13. If you had a chance to work with any artiste in the world who would it be?
I would work with people who really want to share ideas together always to bring out good vibe. So anyone who is understandable and with same aims towards music.
14. What else do you do apart from music?
I do tour guides when I get clients and music but I do study as well.
15. Are you in a relationship?
No I’m not yet.
16. Can someone get rich from working on Music?
Yes you can but it depends on the artiste’s strategies and how they promote their music.
17. What do you love most about being an artiste?
People give you their ears which is easy to share with them like African life song which shows the true African Life.

19. If you had to choose something else to do, what would it be?
Football but am good at football too.
22. What do you think sets you apart in an industry where everyone is doing the same thing?
Like I said, everyone has aims and goals to achieve in life so even me I want to promote Africa that we are rich.

25. What advice would you give to those who would love to pursue careers as artistes?
Man you have to start music when you know you have to give it time and also trust in God because he is everything.
