At first glance Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney might seem like polar opposites — Kinney having the appearance of a former prom king and Gaga being the proprietor of all things eccentric — but Gaga explained what makes their relationship work in a sit-down, airing Monday.
“He’s a hidden weirdo,” said Gaga. “He is extremely strange actually and we complement each other’s weirdness. That’s actually one of the first things he ever said to me. It’s a Dr. Seuss quote — that you find in someone else of compatible weirdness — and it was one of the first things he said to me.”

Gaga reminisced about her first time meeting her Chicago Fire boyfriend, saying, “We were on the set of the You and I video and I looked ridiculously crazy … I’ve got these pins sticking out of my head and I’m wearing cork and I got no hair and I’m bald. I mean, why he found me attractive just completely bewilders me. And we were in the middle of this scene and I remember that he kissed me and it wasn’t scripted for him to kiss me and I was sort of like, ‘Was that real or was that fake?’ And he didn’t really say anything and that was fine by me and we kept filming.”
Mother Monster continued to share that while becoming lovers, they also became best friends, calling it “the best thing ever.”
