Legendary South African singer PJ Powers has lost her mother ahead of her concert in Uganda.
We have learnt that her mother passed away on Friday. However, the “Jabulani” singer remains committed to entertaining her fans in Uganda. She will arrive in Kampala on Saturday evening, the organisers of her concert have confirmed.
In a statement about her mother’s passing and her upcoming concert, she said: “Thank you for all the condolences and wishes that have been sent to me and all the love that I have received from Uganda with regards to the passing of my mother yesterday. I just want to rest assure everybody that the Jabulani Charity Concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel will most definitely take place. If my mother left me with one legacy, it was the legacy to never let people down. Therefore, I will be there to sing a song in her honor and party together with you. Thank you.”
The charity concert is being organised by Girl Up Initiative Uganda, a community development organisation that empowers young girls to thrive in their communities. It will be held on Friday, June 30 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
Tickets are 100K for regular, 300K for VIP and 5 million for a VIP table.
