There are things that for some reason we think are working during oral sex when actually they are not.
Most times, these things can be confusing, so Men’s Health magazine spoke with one of the foremost relationship, sex and body language expert, Tracey Cox, she also owns a line of sex toys she did for LoveHoney. She definitely has a lot of experience in this regard.
Here are some of the misconceptions that are not true floating around everywhere.
1. Blowing her for 10 minutes is enough
Myth: This is so not true. 10 minutes is hardly enough to do it right. “You might be able to orgasm at the mere sight of her mouth wrapped around your penis, but she takes longer to climax,” Cox reveals. She has to be relaxed enough for her to achieve orgasm, and she might need longer than ten minutes. Don’t just lock it down to that exact minute. Cox further advised “Tell her she can take as long as she wants because you love doing this to her.”
The Truth: It takes a lady an average of 20 minutes to get to orgasm with oral sex, so you will have to get comfortable down there. Cox says “The most comfortable position for you is probably her straddling your face, bracing her hands on the wall behind, with a pillow or pillows supporting your neck,”. If she is shy about the whole thing, you can bring her to the edge of the bed, while you kneel in front of her and support your knee with pillows to avoid burns.
2. Rough is good
Myth: Cox states “The clitoris is sensitive, so while over-enthusiastic licking will have her squirming, it’s with pain, not pleasure,”. While different people have what works for them, while giving her head, the tongue or entire thing doesn’t have to be rough. Be gentle.
The Truth: Different people have their preferences, you should read her body language. This is another way you can take feedback from her, notice which moves increase her moans, let her body guide your mouth.
“If she’s holding your head, and pulling you closer, it means ‘tongue me deeper,’ Cox states. “Pushing your head away means you’re being too rough; slow everything down, relax the pressure and simply lick gently.” How to tell if you’re hitting the sweet spot? Cox further says. “If she’s holding you firmly but seems relaxed, you’ve got it right.”
3. Keep switching it up
Myth: It’s fine that you’re quite versed in the act of mouth to organ pleasures but you might need to relax and if she is enjoying a particular move. It’s best you stay with it for a while before moving to another one.
If you keep switching them up, you might be frustrating her orgasm because she needs you to stay on a move for a while so she can climax, instead of switching it every minute. . “Women need regular, consistent rhythm for an extended period in order to orgasm, so stick with one or two motions,” Cox reveals.
The Truth: Women like to boost men’s ego and give them the impression that they’re having the best time of their lives despite it’s the other way round in reality. Let her tell you what she wants and which movies she thinks works better for her. “Make it abundantly clear you aren’t going to be offended, and need and want direction from her,” Cox guides. “While you’re getting to know what turns her on, try something for a bit, then pull back and ask if she likes it.”
4. You should stop when she is climaxing
Myth: It seems like the right thing to do, while she is orgasming to stop but that’s not true. You should continue through the entire thing, but use the tongue softer. Cox says “If you stop just as we’re hovering on the brink, we often don’t make it over the fence.”
Truth: You should continue but in a soft manner. “Keep your tongue relaxed, rather than tensed, and take little breaks where you move your head rather than your tongue,” Cox advises. “Or press the flat of it against her clitoris and simply hold it still, letting her move her hips.”
5. 69 is a bad idea
Myth: It’s only good when you look at the pictures or see them in porno, but in reality it is a lot of work. None of you can be lazy through this?
Truth: This is mostly glorified by porn movies, almost baseless unless the both of you put in an incredible amount of work. Asides from the difficulty level if you’re both not vertically inclined i.e height challenged. The position doesn’t allow the lady but the top of the guy’s head.
“And flicking with the tensed tip of the tongue can feel great, but the most popular technique women prefer is for you to use the whole flat of your tongue,” She says. “Wiggle it or lick slowly and consistently in between the inner lips, and around and over the clitoris,” she further reveals.
