Galaxy FM presenter and city emcee, Andrew Kyamagero recently had a chat with our reporter in which he opened up about his career, woman in his life and more.
Here are the excerpts of the interview:
1. Who is Andrew Kyamagero?
Andrew is an experienced journalist with uniquely abundant transferable and specific skills making him steadfast and versatile in the Media. I am a cheerful and groovy researcher, and a father.
2. When did you decide you wanted to be a TV/Radio star?
I never decided to join TV, it came as an overtime career. But with radio, I made the decision 10 years ago.
3. What has the journey as a media personality been like? What have been some of the highs and lows?
The journey has been very intriguing but interesting at the same time. I have seen the dynamics change on air and off air spreading to the audience which equipped me well with skills to contain the changes with unwavering belief that I am meant to be on air.
The highs: I have become a better journalist as compared to my earlier years, rubbed shoulders with the highest figures in the country and Africa at large. But the best high is that I have impacted the people around me to pay critical attention to everything around them.
The lows: I started with a very meagre salary. I have been arrested a couple of times because of doing my job and also misjudged by the public often.
4. You have added emceeing to your repertoire of skills. What has been your most embarrassing moment on stage?
The most embarrassing moment was when I had to tell a female artist that her days were red while she was still on stage. It was hard but I came with my jacket/coat and wrapped it around her waist as I challenged her to dance to her song. While at it I whispered that she takes a breather.
5. Are you a family man? How have you managed to keep your family out of the spotlight?
Yes, I am a family man. My wife Linda hates the spot light. And her wishes must be upheld at all costs. So I respected that to the extent that even when I am on the red carpet she would prefer to remain on the sidelines. She prefers to live a humble normal life.
6. What do you find attractive in a woman?
I am liberal minded and Sapiosexual meaning I am attracted to brilliant ladies. With these, business ideas are coiled and enhanced than just meeting a bootlicious lady with low esteem and brilliance.
7. What is your life philosophy?
You become what you think about most. But you also attract what you think about most.
8. What is that one thing that everyone is wrong about you?
People have always misjudged my happiness to be influenced by anything. Yet my happiness has always been triggered by my sense of gratitude, God has seen me through a lot and am proud of it.
9. Any advice for those who look up to?
Don’t look up to anyone, reach out to your innermost frame, appreciate the person you have become and work hard to be a better person. When you want to attract something into your life, make sure your actions don’t contradict your desires. Think about what you have asked for, and make sure that your actions are mirroring what you expect to receive, and that they’re not contradicting what you‘ve asked for. Act as if you are receiving it. Do exactly what you would do if you were receiving it today, and take actions in your life to reflect that powerful expectation. Make room to receive your desires, and as you do, you are sending out that powerful signal of expectation.
