Kenya’s fast rising Christian hip-hop artist Johnson Mwaniki, popularly known as Mc Joe, is coming to Kampala. He will perform next month at Worship Fest, MTN Arena Lugogo. The event will bring together the crème dela crème of youthful and vibrant gospel artistes.

Who is MC Joe?

Growing up from a Christian home had a profound influence on his career choice. At an early age, his friends were moved by his singing abilities. Soon, his talent started gaining prominence. At just 14, he started presenting during church services and kept the flame burning through his days at Kitui High School.

He honed his talent while at school and embarked on recording music professionally after completing high school for his talent was too good to be ignored. Today, his music is enjoying massive airplay and earning nods at top awards both locally and overseas.

In 2014, he was nominated as in the Best International Gospel song and Best International Gospel Hiphop Rap Song in the GMA Awards, Italy. In the same year, he scooped the “Most creative university student award” at Daystar University, Kenya. He has been hosted and has performed on several platforms.

Rapping in English and blending with Swahili, his cross-boundary, multi-cultural sound is widely popular for the energetic vibes that brings the gospel closer to vibrant youths. He is proof that gospel music knows no boundaries.
