When you are in love, the only thing you want to do is to be with your partner all day long. You want to hang out more, speak on the phone for hours and text each other when the first two options are not possible. But, when you are really sure of your choices and truly believe that your relationship can be the real deal and that your boyfriend is the one who will soon be your husband, what do you do?
Some of you might consider moving in with your partner. There is nothing wrong about it, if you are certain about the future of your relationship. But, there are a few things which should never influence your decision of moving in with your partner. Here we list some of them. Do consider these before you make such an important decision.
#1. Your heart tells you to do so
They say that love is blind and it certainly is! When in love, your heart does not want you to stay apart for even a few hours, and if given an opportunity to live together, your first reaction would be a ‘yes’. But, decisions taken without thinking them over and weighing the pros and cons can be fatal for your relationship.
#2. That is the only way you think he will propose marriage
If you think that living with him under one roof, sleeping on the same bed and being available for him anytime of the day or night is what it will take for him to propose, aren’t you really better off without him?
#3. You think you will look cool and modern by doing so
Well, on the contrary, not many people in our society are open to the idea of live-in relationships and more often than not, might look down upon you. Not that it matters much, but it is true.
#4. Your commitment levels might falter if you do not stay together
You may feel that by being together all the time, your love will evolve and so will your fondness for each other. In reality however, you are killing the element of surprise, freshness and spontaneity in your relationship. You might just end up getting sick and tired of each other.
#5. You think that your monthly expenditure will be reduced to half
You may think that your rent, bills and everything else will be split, while actually, you end up paying more for everything, because now you will be two people staying in one house. Starting a home together is much more difficult than you imagined it to be.
#6. He is the one who wants to move in together
Do not get forced into it. Only make a decision if you think it is right. This is the choice that will make or break your relationship, so be careful.
#7. His apartment is better than yours
So, go and hang out at his place whenever you feel like. Moving in for that is really silly. Why would you want to give up your own apartment, your space for that?
#8. You feel that is the only way you will fight less and love more
Ever heard of the phrase ‘familiarity breeds contempt’? Staying together means being with each other all the time, except when you are at your respective workplaces. And being with each other all the time exposes you to the other person’s irritating habits. So, instead of fighting less, you might just end up cribbing and arguing more than before.
#9. You do not want to live alone in a rented apartment
That is not a valid enough reason for you to move in with your partner. Instead, start looking for a roommate rather than jumping into a live-in relationship.
#10. You have been dating since the Stone Age
Well if that is the case, then your next step should be to tie the knot and not move in together. How much more proof or time do you need? Isn’t being with and bearing with each other for so many years proof enough that you two are meant to be?
