A man claiming to be Chameleone’s father, Jimmy Kato has brought evidence to show that he is indeed who he says he is.
The 80-year-old Jimmy Kato who says that he met Prossy, Chameleone’s mother in a bar in Kawempe before ballooning her says that he has people who are willing to testify that Chameleone is indeed his son and not Mzee Gerald Mayanja’s son.
According to Jimmy, who was a soldier in Amin’s army, he met Prossy and enjoyed a good relationship with her leaving her pregnant when he went to Tanzania. Upon his return, his child, Chameleone had been given to another man who he now calls his father.
He said that the only person who can now tell the truth other than Prossy is Mariam, his in-law. He added that Mariam knows it all and she is still alive and willing to testify. He also added that his brother Sulait Katerega, who knew about it all, is dead before adding that if he was still alive, Prossy would never have given the child to another man. He called upon Prossy to conduct a DNA test on Chameleone and him to prove to the world that he is the real father.
Kato says that he never knew that Prossy had produced when he went to exile in Tanzania and only found out when he returned four years later. He adds that Prossy begged him not to disorganise his marriage when he asked for his son and she never asked for any upkeep for Chameleone.
