Express FC award free three points at the expense of JMC Hippos

On Friday last week at the Kakindu Stadium in Jinja, home side JMC Hippos celebrated their first victory of the season as they defeated six time league winners Express Football Club by 1-0 in a highly contested battle between the two sides.

However, the joy of that victory was short lived as the Red Eagles petitioned the Uganda Premier League secretariat (Ref: ESC/10/16/12 dated 10th October 2016) on Saturday 10th December, 2016 citing that JMC had used ineligible players.

Express stressed that JMC players used provisional licenses which were expired after the set deadline and that the latter should lose the match by forfeiture.

Since then, the UPL secretariat has ruled in favour of Express, awarding them 3 points and 3 goals in the process.

This now takes the Wankulukuku based side and Matia Lule-coached club to 7th place with 22 points, level with a 6th placed URA FC.
