Ali Kiba

Nigerian artiste Wizkid beat Tanzania’s Ali Kiba for the Best African Act during the MTV Europe Music Awards (MTVEMA).

The two artistes were up against each other in the category and public votes cast  on the award’s website had indicated an early lead for Ali Kiba.

MTVEMA however crowned Nigeria’s Wizkid who also went home with the Best Worldwide Act Award.

Intriguingly, on their website, the organizers had indicated an Ali Kiba win and placed the winners pink trophy beside his name.

The award ceremony was held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where Wizkid was handed his award.

On Tuesday, a shocked Ali Kiba told his fans that he had yet to get an explanation from MTVEMA on the mixup.

He urged the organisers of the awards to provide a detailed explanation on the criteria used declare Wizkid the winner.
