Six million Uganda shillings will be at stake today when a struggling Sports Club Villa take on an on-form Express FC in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) at Nakivubo Stadium.
According to Abu Zikusooka, the SC Villa Public Relations Officer (PRO), the club president Eng. Ben Missaga has promised his side a big sum of cash if they beat the Red Eagles at Wankulukuku.
“The club President Engineer Emmanuel Ben Missaga promised the team a match bonus of 6 million shillings if they defeat their arch rivals and fathers of Express FC.”
The tie comes almost two days after the Jogoos sacked their head coach, Antonio Flores who has been replaced by Ibrahim Kirya who guided them to the 2015 Uganda Cup triumph.
In an interim capacity, Kirya will be deputized by the club technical director, Frank Video Anyau to take on the team.
When the two sides met last season, Villa got maximum points from home and away fixtures in boardroom decisions after both games were aborted due to chaos and teargas.
During the first leg, Villa was leading 2-1 when the match was abandoned in the 82nd minute while the score line was one a piece in the return fixture when it was aborted in the 85th minute.
It’s very evident that the Blues are struggling in the league as they lie just a place above the bottom three with 8 points from 7 games while Express fc aka Mukwano Gwa Bangi are top of the league with 16 points from 8 games.
FIFA badge holder Brian Nsubuga has been chosen to officiate the game and he will be joined by Kayondo Samuel and Balikowa Musa as 1st Assistant and 2nd Assistant referees respectively while Byaruhanga Henry will be the 4th official with Kityo Asuman as the match Commissioner.
