5 Things Not Worth Fighting Over With Your Partner

There’s no denying that a small amount of fighting is healthy for a relationship. If you spend enough time with someone, they will do something to piss you off, and if you and your partner have fights, it means that you are able to communicate your anger to each other, instead of bottling it up. But a lot of times we end up picking fights for reasons that are not worth it. These are the sort of fights that eventually cause strain in a relationship.

1. Why you didn’t answer the other person’s call or reply to their text immediately

Yes, there is such a thing as “overly connected”. You don’t need to talk to each other all the time. People have lives – friends, work, family – outside of the relationship, and it is healthy to give each other space. More importantly, a happy relationship is based on feeling secure. Just because your partner is not accessible all the time, it doesn’t mean that they don’t care about you.

2. Boys’ or girls’ night outs

Not only is it not worth fighting over, spending time with friends is something that you should encourage each other to do. Healthy friendships fuel a healthy romantic relationship.

3. Ex – flames

This is a tricky one. If your partner has formed and maintained healthy boundaries with their ex, there’s no need to pick a fight over the two of them having lunch together every once in a while. As long as you are in the know of what’s going on, trust your partner and remember that an ex is an ex for a reason.

4. What they don’t post on social media

Some people just don’t like spilling their personal lives on the internet. So, if your partner’s Facebook page is not flooded with pictures of the two of you, there’s nothing wrong with that! A healthy relationship isn’t something that one necessarily feels the need to show off.

5. Not doing everything together

There are three elements to every relationship: you, your partner and the relationship you create together. Think of it as a venn diagram. The relationship is formed of the parts that overlap, and a lot of your and your partner’s lives will not overlap. And that’s okay! Focus on what the two of you do enjoy doing together, and build on that.
