‘I’m playing golf’- Read up a little bit on the sport and test them. If they don’t know the jargon and stumble over their words- chances are they were putting their balls in a hole, just not one in the ground.
‘I’m in a business meeting/working late- Call their secretary and make up some story about a surprise you’re planning and ask them what nights they’re free. If your partner tells you they’re in a meeting- you’ll know they are telling fibs.
‘I’m going to the pub’- Ask them who they went with and the next time you’re in their company- bring it up in conversation. If they look at you blankly- it’s likely because your loved one was sharing a drink with someone else.
‘I’m going to the gym’- If they aren’t looking any fitter, more toned or slimmer, but red faced and sweaty when they come- they were probably riding a person not an exercise bike.
‘I’m going shopping for groceries’- If your cupboards never seem to get any fuller, the fridge remains bare and it takes them hours to buy one solitary pint of milk- it doesn’t look good. Why not catch them off guard and call them to meet them at the store so you can ‘shop together’?
