Flavia Tumusiime continues to share inspiring stories from her life and career in the “30 days of Flavia Tumusiime” series. On day 14, she posted:
“In 2012, on a rainy Thursday morning, I was involved in an accident that almost took my life, I was fully alert as I watched my car lose control and roll off the road. I was rescued quickly by people walking by who noticed my battle to get out of the wreckage, I was okay and sane thank God and I managed to call for help.
By then, people were gathering and one car stopped and it was Dorah Mwiima former miss Uganda, now this is someone I knew yes but as an acquaintance really, but she stopped and offered to be with me till help arrived or she would take me to hospital herself, she was caring and thoughtful, you would think we had known each other for years.
When I eventually reached hospital, my workmates had rushed to my side, even the ones I never spoke to at work. I was surprised at how over my healing days, people I had never paid attention to, given time or perhaps even treated badly at one time or the other, put their issues aside and were caring and supportive. This left me a different person, you never really know who will have your back and who will be quick to turn away too.
Life is full of surprises, dont think that existing above others is ever a good thing. Be good to people, it takes nothing from you.”
