Twenty five people from five regions of Uganda have each received a MTN Mobile Money kiosk as prizes won in the recently ended MTN Gaggawala “Win a Kiosk” promotion.
Each winner will also walk away with Ush2.5 million as start-up capital for their MTN Mobile Money business.
The winners are now guaranteed a chance to start a business and become Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) when they receive a Mobile Money agent starter kit including training, point-of- sale collateral and other pertinent information and materials to kick-start their MTN Mobile Money agent businesses.
The “Win-A- Kiosk” promotion was the second of two MTN Gaggawala promotions aimed at giving back to the society and creating meaningful ways to provide a source of income for those lucky winners and those associated to them through family and business.
The winners are spread across the five regions of Uganda with the profiles of winners ranging from police officers to teachers and others already involved in other forms of trade or business.
Commenting on the significance of the promotion, MTN Uganda General Manager Mobile Financial Services, Phrase Lubega said that through the Gaggawala “Win A Kiosk” promotion, MTN is an enabler and is providing a platform for our customers to start businesses and establish themselves as business owners within the Mobile Money Industry.
“Today we hand over Mobile Money kiosks to 25 winners and start-up capital worth 2.5 million each. The winners will also be receiving training, Point of Sale material and other related proprietary information that is fundamental in getting them started as competent Mobile Money agents.” Lubega said.
“The future effect of this promotion means that with this opportunity, winners can go on to establish themselves in business to the benefit of their families, communities and one day hopefully become renowned and successful entrepreneurs.” He concluded.
