Xage Mode, a 21-year-old rapper emerged overall winner in the MTN Cypher competition.
In line with Uganda HipHop Awards 2016, MTN put up for grabs a cash prize of 1,000,000 UGX and a recording deal to one lucky rapper in their cypher competition. The criteria was you record a video of yourself rhyming to a beat that includes an MTN intro and Outro, with no abusive, obscene or hate language and then post it on social media with the hashtag #MTNCypher. The recording with the most engagements was to pocket the 1,000,000 UGX and recording contract.
Xage Mode, who is affiliated to Namuwongo based Goodkid recording studio, emerged winner in the heated Competition that ran from the 8th to 14th of December.
Xage Mode, real name Baguma Patrick, said winning was a wonderful feeling and he is working towards becoming the best Ugandan Music export soon.
