16 stars we lost in 2015

In 2015, we had to say goodbye to celebrities from the world of entertainment, sports, and literature. We lost music icon B.B. King, Hollywood legend Maureen O’Hara, and famed film director Wes Craven. Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away in July, just three years after her mother Whitney Houston’s untimely death, and we also bid farewell to sports commentators Stuart Scott and Frank Gifford. Read on to look back on the stars who sadly passed away this year.

Jackie Collins 

The 77-year-old famed British novelist passed away in September after a long battle with breast cancer.

Leonard Nimoy

The legendary actor, best known for his role as Mr Spock in Star Trek, died in February at the age of 83.

Wes Craven

The film director, best known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream franchises, died in September.

Scott Weiland

In December, the former frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver died from an accidental drug overdose at 48.

Bobbi Kristina Brown

Bobbi, the daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, died in July after spending six months in a coma. The 22-year-old was found unresponsive in her bathtub in January.

Maureen O’Hara

The legendary actress, who starred in Miracle on 34th Street, Rio Grande and The Parent Trap, died of natural causes at her home in Idaho. She was 95.

Anne Meara

Actress and playwright Anne Meara died at her NYC home in May at the age of 85. She was best known as one half of the prominent 1960s comedy team Stiller and Meara with her husband, Jerry Stiller and was the mother of actor Ben Stiller.

Amanda Peterson

The 43-year-old actress passed away in July of an accidental drug overdose. She was best known for her role as Cindy Mancini in the 1987 comedy Can’t Buy Me Love.

B.B King

The iconic blues singer and guitarist was 89 when he passed away in May. He died in Las Vegas from complications of Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes.

Robert Loggia

The actor and director died in December at the age of 85. His cause of death was complications from Alzheimer’s disease, which he was diagnosed with five years prior.

Samuel Goldwyn, Jr

The 88-year-old film producer died of congestive heart failure in January. He was the son of movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn and the father of Scandal star Tony Goldwyn.

Yogi Berra

The baseball legend, best known for playing, coaching, and managing both the New York Yankees and Mets, passed away in September at the age of 90.

Lesley Gore

The singer of ‘60s classics “It’s My Party” and “You Don’t Own Me” lost her battle with lung cancer in February. She was 68.

Christopher Lee

In June, the English actor died at 93. He was best known for portraying villains; he starred as Count Dracula as well as in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Meadowlark Lemon

The former Harlem Globetrotter died in December at the age of 83.

Sam Simon

The director and writer, best known at the co-creator of The Simpsons, passed away in March at the age of 59. -Source: popsugar.com
