A long distance relationship is built on a totally different platform when compared to a regular relationship. Not seeing each other for months means that you have to develop a whole lot of patience and trust to keep things going. While compromises are good, there are somethings that you must never stand for in a LDR. Here are a few of them.
Zero trust: This one is a no-brainer but we are going to say it anyway. Trust is one of the most important things in this relationship. So if it’s lacking, it’s best to walk away.
Judging your friends: Your BFFs are the ones who are going to be emotionally available for you and if he has a problem with that then you really need to sit down and have a talk.
Lack of communication: We all know about those days when he might genuinely be busy, but lack of communication is a big relationship killer. In LDRs, this is the most important thing so make sure you always work towards open and honest communication.
Activity monitoring: Since trust is the crux of your relationship, you don’t want to be stuck with a partner who makes stalking you his priority.
Emotional blackmailing: Since you both don’t meet all that often it is but obvious that you have your own set of friends whom you hang out with. If he tries to stop you from going out there and having fun without him, you need to rethink.
Expecting you to always be there: A LDR means that you often won’t be able to make it for special days because of prior commitments. But that’s absolutely okay and if he is giving you grief about it or guilt tripping you then we suggest you need to consider your options.
24 phone calls in a day: Nope, doesn’t work either. Yeah, you both miss each other but everyone needs their space. Plus, there is something called too much of a good thing.
Cheating: Just because you aren’t there physically it doesn’t take away from the seriousness of the relationship.
Not making you a priority: Agreed that you aren’t there always and he has a lot of other things to take care of, but not calling you, and not making plans to meet up just because you aren’t around to question him is just not done.
Not putting in efforts: If he is continuously cancelling plans and is not too happy about the idea of you coming over and spending time together, maybe you need to move on.
Silence: Communication is the key and if he refuses to tell you why he isn’t happy with the relationship, there really is nothing you can do.
Ignoring your family: Not considering them a priority just because he isn’t in the same city as them is a big no, no.
Always asking for a break: Honestly, you already have way too much space in a LDR. So if you find him continuously citing lack of space as a reason for the break, maybe you should just break it off permanently.
