Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about Gen. Aronda Nyakairima:
1. He was just 27 years when Museveni came into power on the 27th of January.
2. He was married to Linda Kahoza, a woman who hails from Mbarara.
3. The late general is a Muhororo by tribe.
4. At Makerere University, he graduated with a degree in Political Science.
5. He was the best man at the wedding of President Paul Kagame in 1989.
6. He was a devote Christian who did not drink or smoke.
7. In October 2010, General Nyakairima was inducted into the International Hall of Fame at the Lewis and Clark Centre at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, United States of America, for attaining the highest position in the military of Uganda.
8. He was a polyglot and was one of the few Generals who could speak over 5 languages some of which included; Luganda, English, Luo, Runyakitara, and Swahili.
9. He died while in transit to Dubai from South Korea.
10. He is survived by two children.
