In December last year, I started to get more excited about the character of Donald Trump. I had read a good number of his books but I was still skeptical at how he would execute his strategies when faced by an American oligarchy and establishment.
The first thing I noticed when I told friends that I had a soft spot for Donald Trump was the quick dislike they gave me. Many would be shocked instantly. They had all bought into the media definition of Trump. With the exception of Fox News, all the mainstream media made it clear that they were against Trump and they did this in a virtue-signalling method. However, I was confident that Trump could not have arisen to the occasion unless he had been found right for it.
Almost every week, there was a Trump scandal or speech that would be blown out of proportion. But the man was unfazed. He was like the messiah promising to lead the country to the world of making America Great Again. So what can we really learn from Donald Trump’s victory?
1. Have one strong and simple message and stick to it
We all knew what Donald Trump stood for. He stood for “Making America Great Again.” But what did Hillary Clinton stand for? What was her message. Barack Obama had one message; “yes we can.” Regardless of the attacks that came his way, Trump kept repeating his message and sticking by it as it found more hearts.
2. Your Haters are Your Number One Marketing Tool
Hillary Clinton outspent Donald Trump on advertisements. Hillary Clinton had all media endorsements. Donald Trump had almost none. Yet it is his haters that constantly marketed him. They made him the focus of their campaigns. The more they attacked him, the more supporters he gained.
3. Every Man needs an Anti-Fragile Skin
Nassim Taleb wrote in his book; “Anti-Fragile” the things that get better from stressors or disorders. Donald Trump was a true embodiment of a modern day Hydra. When they cut off one head of his, two more grew. When he lost one supporter, he gained five more. This kept on shocking the media and his opponents. The more they hit him, the stronger he got. No scandal could take out Donald Trump. He simply let all his skeletons out of the closet and all his flaws, he owned. He was a human Teflon. A diamond of sorts.
4. If you don’t know who to vote for, vote for the man with the hottest wife at least he is doing something right. Donald Trump taught the world that nothing matters more than family. He stood by his wife even when her nudes leaked. He propped up Ivanka. To this date, Donald Trump has instituted a no-alcohol policy in his home. He doesn’t drink. Trump demonstrated that self-discipline is everything.
5. Donald Trump demonstrated the true meaning of a “free man.” I always wondered; “what is freedom?” Donald Trump showed what it means to be a free man and live as one. He constantly broke the shackles of political correctness as he articulated all he believed in. Not even Ronald Reagan faced what Trump faced.
6. Know Your Market
Trump understood his market. Some of these included the heavily taxed white middle class, it included the black Americans. He kept rallying them and never faltered in this. What is your target audience? Can you craft a message that addresses their needs?
7. Set out to do big things without apology
Say this is what I want to achieve and this is the price I am willing to pay. Trump did just that.
8. Before taking on the establishment, have your FYM in check
FYM means “Fu*k You Money” Donald Trump knew the battle he was about to face and as such, he had prepared in advance. He knew no big corporation would fund his campaign, he knew he would try to be stifled financially. He stocked his FYM fund and then he could do all he desired without fear.
9. Everyone loves a honest person
Above all, Trump proved to be honest. He never tried to deny whatever scandal came his way. He always accepted his wrongs, apologized and moved on. He let his humanity shine through. The big lesson here is that whenever you get a scandal, accept it happened, show remorse and what you learned from it then revert back to your message. It will win you admirers.
10. Alpha Males will always stay on Top
Donald Trump demonstrated that “bad guys” will always finish ahead of “nice guys” because bad guys are real, they say it as it is. Trump was that Alpha Male of the pack showing the rest where to go and flipping the whip on whoever disobeyed.
Only one thing could have stopped Donald Trump and that was assassination. From Trump we learn, ignore your haters, let them do the marketing for you as you laser focus on your message. The veil of political correctness is down. Mainstream media, where art thou your sting?
Let’s make our lives Great Again. “No dream is too big, no challenge is too great. Nothing we want for our future is beyond our reach.”- Donald Trump victory speech.
Namaste.
