The tie between Uganda Cup reigning champions, Vipers Sports Club and the Uganda Cranes ended in stalemate with each side scoring twice (2-2) in a practice match played at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium.
The game concluded the Cranes’ first phase in their preparations for the January 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.
Micho’s side squandered a 2-0 lead to share the spoils with the Kitende based side. Striker Yunus Sentamu gave the Cranes a first half lead while second half substitute Muzamiru Mutyaba doubled the lead.
Moments later, Pius Wanji converted from twelve yards to give Vipers a life line before Bashir Mutanda picked up a late equalizer for coach Abdullah Mubiru’s side.
This was the third practice match for the Cranes since the start of their non-residential training in preparation for AFCON 2017.
They defeated Saints FC 3-1 in their first game before picking up two draws against Bright Stars and Vipers in a 1-1 and 2-2 result respectively.
Meanwhile, Coach Micho is expected to name a provisional squad later today that will undergo a CAF medical checkup and start the second phase of the 2017 AFCON preparations.
