The Uganda Premier League management has finally passed its ruling in regard to match 37 between SC Villa and Express FC that was aborted last Friday (17th October) at the Ssaza grounds, Mityana by Brian Nsubuga, the center referee on the day due to chaos.
The Uganda Premier League management awarded SC Villa a walkover win (three points and three goals) over Express FC despite Express leading 2-1 before the game was abandoned.
According to the official report released the UPL Chief Executive Officer, Bainamani Bernard Bampaire, the ruling was done basing on the report submitted to them by the match officials.
“This decision (awarding Villa 3 points and 3 goals) has been taken in accordance with Article 32(1) of FUFA Competitions Rules 2014/2015. The reports indicate that the fans of the visiting team consistently threw stones on the field of play (Express FC fans started throwing stones in the 31st minute after SC Villa had scored, after they scored the second goal the stone throwing intensified) which culminated into a lot of tear gas being fired hence forcing the referee to abandon the match in the 77th minute of play”, reads part of the official report.
Following the decision made by the UPL management, SC Villa now lead the 16-team log with 13points after being held to a goalless draw yesterday in Jinja by Bul FC.
