Police in the districts of Mpigi, Butambala and Gomba who were jointly investigating an armed robbery on members of a local music group; Da Nu Eagles Production at Kalamba village in Butambala district have been successful after the couple’s car was recovered.
The singers Geoffrey Lutaaya, and his wife Irene Namatovu who were attacked by robbers with an AK-47 machine gun and a baton at around 3 am last Thursday night lost their Toyota Alphard registration number UAY 544Q to them. The couple now has a reason to smile after Police found their car.
Eight people have been arrested over the robbery. The car was discovered in Mugoya service garage in Iganga. The robbers had already managed to change its colour from Black to Silver and a new number plate was going to be put.
According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga more stolen cars were discovered in the garage. “We have managed to get more cars. We found 15 other cars that are stolen and were being changed at this garage. 8 people have been arrested as investigations go on,” he said.
Da Nu Eagles’ bosses who were travelling with three of their crew members were heading back to Kampala, from Kanoni town in Gomba district where they had held a music show when the incident occurred. We are glad their car has been found.
