Harriet Apako, a player in the Uganda National Netball team, the She Cranes, has today morning passed on at Rubaga Hospital, Kampala.
The 43-year-old netballer was admitted about a week ago after suffering serious malaria and has since been battling the illness until the time of her demise.
Apako was part of the She Cranes squad that participated in the 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia where Uganda finished 8th.
Her death comes as huge shock to the sports fraternity and the nation at large but more so to her netball club, National insurance Corporation (NIC) which she has been playing for in the Uganda netball league .
Burial details are yet to be communicated.
