Over the weekend, 8th ranked Wales hit the last nail in Zambia’s coffin as they condemned them to a 71-44 defeat to guarantee Uganda a spot in the last eight.

A 14th ranked Uganda take on Wales in the last game of the group stages of the competition at the Allphones Arena today.

The two teams meet for the first time at the Netball World Cup with both sides still undefeated in the tournament after two games played by each side in the Group D pool.

The She Cranes have re-branded to being the ‘hot cake’ since returning to the world cup after 36-years (since 1979) following two huge victories against an 18th and 7th ranked Zambia and Fiji respectively according to the World Netball rankings.

Team skipper and sharp shoot, Peace Proscovia with a shooting average of 86.9% (93/107) and goal attacker Racheal Nanyonga who scored 12 and 24 in the first two games will be the ones to watch heading into today’s game.

Having thumped Fiji and Zambia, Wales will also be eager to keep the unbeaten candle burning with their shooting accuracy in Georgia Rowe who is at 100%, Emma Thomas at 93% and Chelsea Lewis at 90%.

Wales’ victory over Zambia yesterday implies Uganda are through to the last eight even if they are beaten today.

Playing today:
S. Africa vs. Sri Lanka (5:15am)
Uganda vs. Wales (10:20am)

Weekend Results:

South Africa 69-21 Singapore
Sri Lanka 18-101 Malawi
Malawi 75-31 Singapore
Wales 71-44 Zambia
