Uganda Cranes striker Yunus Sentamu Junior is now swimming in greener pastures after he completed a move to Tunisia’s SC Sfaxien last week to become the third Ugandan to play in Tunisia after Jackson Mayanja and Emmanuel Owki who featured for Esperance and Etoile Du Sahel respectively although Okwi’s stay was short lived.
At a tender age of 20 years, Semtamu has fully established himself since impressing at the CHAN tournament earlier in 2014 in South Africa where he scored three goals, attracting many clubs from all over the continent. He then signed for DR Congo’s AS Vita from Vipers Sports Club for a one year spell.
The young striker scored twice during the CAF championship in 2014 guiding AS Vita to the finals of the tournament when they edged Sfaxien after two legs with a 2-1 aggregate. It was during this encounter that the young striker impressed his now employees as he managed to net the winner.
While speaking on the club’s official channel, Sentamu expressed his interest to win trophies with his new side; “My ambition is to make sure that we win more trophies as CS Sfaxien. I have so much respect for this club. It’s a good club and it gave us a good game when we played them in the semi-finals last year. Fortunately, we won by 2-1 with me scoring the winner. My work is to score goals and since I believe in God, I will score goals for CS Sfaxien to make them happy.”
Yunus Senatmu is also the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Footballer of the year 2014.
