Sports Club Villa thrashed newly promoted side Proline Football Club 3-0 on Tuesday evening at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) to keep pace with leaders KCCA FC.
The 16-time league record champions took an early lead in the game with summer recruit Alex Kitata opening the scoring just inside 3 minutes. The Jogoos continued to show their home dominance when Vitalis Tabu doubled the lead for the Deo Sserwada-coached side in the 35th minute.
After a poor display in the opening forty five minutes, the visitors were shocked to a third strike just a minute into the second half when Dennis Kamanzi killed it off to make it 3-0 for the hosts.
Mujib Kasule’s side were without their lead striker Edris Lubega who was nursing an injury on the side lines.
The victory leaves Villa in second place on the 16-team log with 11 points from 5 games and the only side yet to concede a goal in the AUPL this season while Proline were left just a place above the relegation zone with just 4 points.
