The Uganda National Beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes are nursing wounds after being thrashed by the Sharks of Ghana 9-6 on Sunday at Entebbe Sports Beach during their first leg clash of the CAF Beach Soccer qualifiers.
The two sides are battling for a slot at this year’s 2015 CAF Beach Soccer championship that will be played in Seychelles next month.
The sharks who arrived in the country just two hours to game kick-off managed to see off the Sand Cranes through strikes by Mathew Lamptey’s who managed to score four goals on the evening. Team captain Michael Sema netted a hat-trick while Alexander Adye and Isaac Ofori came off with one each.
Kiira Young’s Baker Lukooya scored a brace for Uganda while teammates Nkuubi Brian, Derrick Teko and Roch Somoka were the other players on the score sheet for the Sand Cranes.
The two teams will meet for a second leg on 22nd March 2015.
