Here is a press statement by the police on the prime suspect in the Jeff Kiwa child sacrifice scandal:
The Police from the Homicide Department, in close coordination with other stakeholders including Kyampisi Child Care Ministries arrested a suspect, Katende Moses, an 18 year old resident of Kijabijo village, Gayaza, who allegedly influenced, Were Herbert, an accused on remand, into slaying and mutilating his 8 year old younger brother, Ogema Joel, in a ritualistic manner. He was traced and arrested from his mother’s village in Galiraya, Kayunga district.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having created an imposter facebook account where he impersonated Jeff Kiwa of Dejavu pub, a popular catch name, and duped many followers on the process of gaining wealth upon recruitment into some sort of fake religious cult (Illuminati). He defrauded unsuspecting members by collecting money from them under the pretext of obtaining a “code“to the indoctrination process.
The police also recovered materials used in the indoctrination of followers and how to secretly host satanic rituals including human sacrifice from the suspect. He further added that he brainwashed Were Herbert into sacrificing his younger brother for the purpose of acquiring wealth, a task he believed he would fail to perform.
The police would like to warn the public against the dangers of the internet and mobile phones which are effective tools used by fraudsters to brainwash and dupe teenagers. In this very instance the suspect crated a fake facebook account, with fake profiles, built a following and started asking for financial contribution. On average, he would raise between Ugx 200,000-300,000 weekly. It was established that Jeff Kiwa had nothing to do with the imposter account.
We want to urge members of the public who could have given their profiles or conducted any financial transactions through the fake profiles to report to the police for further management.
