George ‘Best’ Nsimbe of KCCA FC will face-off with Leo Adraa Atlabara FC after he carried his team to the quarter finals of the CECAFA Kagame cup. Uganda’s representatives (Kampala Capital City Authority) at the ongoing Kagame Cup are set to clash with South Sudan’s Atlabara FC in the last eight of the competition.
This development followed Gor Mahia’s early draw with Telecom on Sunday which confirmed KCCA’s spot at the quarter final stage of the tournament. Their late win on the day against Rwanda’s APR FC just spiced up their efforts as it drove them to finish top of group B with 9points. The ‘Kasasiro boys’ scooped a 1-0 victory over home team APR in their group closing tie at Kigali regional stadium, Nyamirambo.
With 20minutes of play left, second half substitute Steven Bengo curved a free kick into the back of the net after on-form winger Brian Majwega had been fouled down the left flank. Uganda’s so called lost Brazilian, Steven Bengo who scored the only goal of the evening came off the bench to replace Owne Kasule. As much as expected, the home team (APR) dominated possession for almost the entire game but failed to break through the Ugandan side who chose to sit back and play on the counter attack which paid off greatly by the blow of the final whistle.
In the first game of the same group, the already knocked out side of Gor Mahia (Kenya) extinguished Telecom’s hopes of progressing to the quarter finals of the tournament when they held them to a 2-2 draw on the evening. The day’s (Sunday) results meant that KCCA FC finished top of group B with 9points followed by APR FC on 7points while Atletico finish third on 6points.
